Quote Of The Day: Rafa Proves Gerrard`s Innocence
Features - Quotes

Steven Gerrard

Last week it was Maradona’s fingers causing debate, this week it’s the gesturing of Steven Gerrard’s digits in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Wigan on Monday that’s causing a stir. Not for Rafa Benitez though.

“Sometimes you move your fingers. It was nothing. We are not considering it, it was nothing.”

He’s right you know, sometimes you do move your fingers. Can't argue with that. Case closed.

Spurs Hit The Big Time
Features - Quotes

Tottenham

Wilson Palacios has made his plans for the future clear, and in doing so has signalled that Tottenham have moved up the food chain and are ready to become a big four club; their best players no longer want to leave and play for Manchester United, they want to go and play for Real Madrid.

“I am really happy at Tottenham but I will continue working for a future move to a bigger club. I would like to play for Real Madrid.”

Bittersweet.

Door Still Open For Crocked Owen
Media - Video

England coach Stuart Pearce has revealed that Fabio Capello hasn’t written off poor old Michael Owen’s World Cup chances after all, despite the fact that he’s already been ruled out through injury. Which, apart from not making an awful lot of sense, just seems like rubbing it in.

“It's wrong to say Michael's international career is over and that Fabio doesn't like him. He picks the squad on merit and the door is still open for Michael.”

What We Really Want To Hear On The Tape
Features - Article

England

News broke today that a tape, supposedly of England player’s private conversations, exists and is being offered to newspapers. Since then just about everyone who cares has been wondering whether it contains a recording of Fabio Capello giving John Terry a bollocking over the Wayne Bridge affair, or reveals what the players are actually like behind closed doors.

The PES 2010 Super Cancel Guide
Media - Video

One of the biggest disappointments in PES 2010 is that the dummy or shot feint just doesn’t really work. Either Konami forgot about it until the last minute or just straight messed it up, but one of the most effective and satisfying moves in Pro Evo had been replaced with an animation glitch. Well as it turns out, it is possible to pull off a shot feint after all. This video, seen over at WENB, shows how using the ‘super cancel’ move is a very effective way of selling a dummy.

It’s good news, but let’s hope that the shot feint makes a proper return in PES 2011.

Scholesy`s Worst Goal
Media - Video

We’re always hearing players talk about their best goals, but what about the ones they're not so proud of? The scuffed shots, the deflections or the ones that went in off their bums? Step up Manchester United’s Paul Scholes, the most down to earth footballer around, who doesn’t mind singling out his standing leg goal against AC Milan as his worst ever.

“That goal was probably the worst one I have ever scored. It is easy enough to admit. I meant to hit it with my right foot and the ball came off my left. But a goal is a goal and I will take it.”

Just Seven Signings Should Do, Says Carragher
Features - Quotes

Liverpool FC

“The squad is capable of producing better and we probably need two or three players who will go into the team and make an impact every week, and three or four more to beef up the squad. We probably need six or seven signings.”

Talking to the Sunday Times, Jamie Carragher shows just how much faith he has in his current team mates. After last night’s poor result at Wigan, JC might be thinking that seven new signings might not be enough.

Owen`s Body Writes Off Michael Owen
Media - Video

Hear that? That was the sound of inevitability, Mr. Owen. And your hamstring snapping.

In the long running saga of whether or not Michael Owen could make it into England's World Cup squad, the Manchester United striker has been written off on numerous occasions, by himself, by Fabio Capello, only to keep his feint hopes alive with a few glimpses of the old Michael Owen. Of course, there was really only ever one thing that could truly write him off, and that was his own injury prone body. And that's what has happened today, with the news that England's finest natural goalscorer will be out for the season, and in turn the World Cup.
