Rio Finally Merks JT
Media - Video

“It was inevitable that I was gonna get him”.

Rio’s words before his attempted ‘merk’ of JT in 2006 now ring ominously true. His wind-up fell through then, Terry instead helping Rio merk another team mate. No, not Wayne Bridge, that would have been even more ominous, but little SWP.

Four years later and it seems as though Captain Rio has finally, inevitably, merked his man. Just like he said he would… Wait a second…

Fabio`s FA Wind-Up
Media - Video

England

So JT is out and Rio is in; under pressure from the FA to dismiss a captain whose off-field shenanigans have brought shame to the England captaincy, Fabio Capello has acted. The Italian coach yet again displayed rational, calm and decisive leadership, dealing with Terry in less than 15 minutes on Friday. Either that or he was so relaxed about the whole Terry-Bridge affair because he didn’t really care about it in the first place. His apparent failure to let Rio know he was getting Terry’s old job suggests as much, as does the fact that he chose the Manchester United man to take over the role. If Capello was interested in restoring the dignity of the England captaincy, he surely wouldn’t have given it to Ferdinand.

Moore: EA Too Paranoid To Get Complacent
News - Games

FIFA 10

Talking to CVG, EA Sports big cheese Peter Moore has explained that even though there is a big gap between FIFA and Pro Evo right now, they know that Konami has the talent and capability to catch up. Moore isn’t too worried though as the FIFA team is too paranoid about complacency to let that lead slip.

“The one thing we have in the FIFA team is an absolute paranoia about complacency. Whilst you say there's clear water between us and Pro Evo, EA Canada's mentality is that the competitor is breathing right down their necks.”

More from the interview after the break.

David Villa scores from behind the goal in what looks like a fun, if entirely unproductive, training session.

Sky Mobile TV Coming To 3G
News - TV

Sky Mobile TV

The problem with the Sky Mobile TV app for the iPhone is that it’s not actually very mobile. It’s currently only possible to watch live TV when connected to a Wi-Fi network. That’s about to change, as the app will soon be available on 3G, meaning subscribers really will be able to watch Sky Sports pretty much wherever and whenever they want. Like at work, or while out shopping with their other halves, or when they can’t be bothered to get out of bed on Saturday mornings to watch Soccer AM.

Home Sweet Home
Media - Video

The most expensive player in England is back in Brazil, coming off the bench to score the winner for Santos against Sao Paulo in a 2-1 victory at the weekend. In retrospect, he probably regrets ever having left in the first place.

Judgement Day: The Results
News - Football

JT Judgement Day

Judgement Day has passed, and Captain Superinjunction has been stripped of his armband. The meeting between Fabio Capello and John Terry apparently lasted all of 12 minutes. By our workings, at least 11 and a half of those minutes must have been needed just to run through the list of Terry’s misdemeanours. That left half a minute for the England manager to think it over, tell the disgraced Chelsea defender that his captaincy was being passed on to the next in line, Rio Ferdinand, then say goodbye.

When showboating goes wrong…

Birmingham City FC

It was a lame transfer window for most clubs, but for Birmingham City in particular it was a colossal let down. When Carson Yeung took over the club last year, he signalled his intent by happily telling the media that there would be £40 million to spend on players in the January window.
